Today rocks! because it’s certainly one of our favorite segments called Love Your Branding Baby. In this segment we highlight a small business that just gets it from their messaging to their website all the way through to their product, they’re just awesome. And today I wish to concentrate on a brandname that I recently discovered called Artifact Uprising. So what they do is they create top quality physical prints from your own digital photos and even from Instagram. Now, while you’re gonna discover they’re doing a great deal of things right, I wanna concentrate on three smart strategies that you can use in your business starting today. Smart strategy number one is you’ve got to drive desire, and the easiest way to drive desire is to understand what you’re really selling and concentrate on that. And these folks do it well. So they’re not just selling easy prints of your digital photos, what they’re really selling is really a feeling of connection to us, to our memories, and to our milestones.
And in this digital age, that’s something that’s missing. Check it out. Everywhere you appear on the site there is a feeling of touchability, of beautiful, meaningful objects that ground us in the actual world. And check out this smarty pants line: off your device and into your life. It’s got a good double meaning. We’re getting your photos off your device and into your life and we’re getting you off your device and into your life.
So they do a good job of making us realize our lives aren’t on our phones. They’re about real people and top quality items that we can tell real people that individuals actually love. So what they’re really selling is connection and now I want you to consider, what are you currently really selling? In order our friend Simon Sinek says, people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.
And Artifact Uprising does an excellent job of letting us know why they do what they do. They’re super clear on the purpose and they let you know throughout the place. Have a look. Beneath the Purpose within Every Product section you can see which they love the outdoors and strive to use recycled and reclaimed materials wherever possible. They choose mountain beetle pine wood, that is otherwise considered waste material, and as a US based company they make their products in the USA and it gets even better as they say, “Our calendars and wood block and prints provide jobs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” So, as you can see, they talk about the why behind what they do on all of these site.
It’s honest, it’s heart based, and, obviously, it inspires sales. So now you’ve gotta consider, are you currently clear on the why behind what you do? Have you been clear about what you stand for? And, most importantly, are you currently doing a good job letting us all know about it? Smart strategy number three is you wanna highlight your humanity. So in some sort of where everyone’s wanting to pretend to be larger than who they’re and often say we, when it’s only one individual behind a notebook, Artifact Uprising is amazing because they’re small and they’re proud of it.
Have a look. Here they say, “We’ve grown from 3 people in a basement to a team of 12, yet the roots remain the same. We pride ourselves on being a small company and we genuinely believe that matters because at the end of the day, we take it personally. Each of it.” We take it personally. That’s such a beautiful and vulnerable reminder that there is a real person and real people at this company who actually care if you buy their products. And that is another example. So I recently ordered some prints from their store and when I obtained my package in the mail I opened it down and the very first thing I saw was this beautiful card. And then I flipped it over and this message really touched me, “We stand behind the products we create. If you’re not happy with the caliber of your order or you believe your product has a production defect or shipping damage, please contact us so we can ensure it is right.” Those last nine words, they’re everything. Please contact us so we can ensure it is right. You realize, in the present world people are so quick to take their upsets and their complaints and their gripes right to social media marketing, and I enjoy that Artifact Uprising says, “Hey, look, everything doesn’t go perfect all the time, so if there is a problem arrived at us so we can fix it.” They take so much pride in what they do and, again, they’re leading using their humanity.
And even the fact that this is on, like, beautiful, heavy cardstock, this is something so different than you would get from a huge big box company. So I want you to ask yourself, take a look at your sales process. Are there any places that you can add more humanity back into your business?
